Head Capper
One head
cappers, or single head chuck style cappers are designed to tighten
the cap on a container using a chuck. A chuck is a piece of tooling
designed to grip the cap, to rotate the cap onto the container thus
capping the container, and to release the cap once the proper cap
torque force has been reached.
Chucks are designed specifically for the size of cap they are
tightening. Different types of chucks have different mechanisms to
calculate the amount of torque applied and to release the cap when
that point has been reached. Single head chuck style cappers can be
either automatic or semi-automatic. Semi-automatic chuck style cappers
require an operator to place the cap on the container and to place the
cap and container in contact with the chuck. Automatic single head
chuck style cappers will automatically apply the cap to the container,
tighten the cap, and release the container from the machine.
