Vertical Cartoners Vertical cartoners are designed to erect a carton, pack a cartoner, and seal a carton while the carton has a vertical orientation. A vertical cartoner processes a cartoner that is orientated with its major and minor flaps above and below the carton. Vertical cartoners are used when the product being loaded into the carton can most easily be handled using gravity.

Vertical cartoners will seal the bottom of the carton prior to loading the carton with product so the product does not fall through the open carton. Vertical cartoners can be designed to operate automatically. Automatic vertical cartoners can be integrated to volumetric feeders or scale feeders to feed product into the carton. Cartons of dog biscuits are filled and sealed in this manner. Vertical cartoners can also operate semi-automatically with an operator manually loading the product into the carton.
